Bing redirect virus

I'm running Mac OS Mojave, and I can't get rid of the Bing re-direct virus on Safari.

I've tried everything:

- There's nothing strange in my Applications folder

- There are no Extensions listed in Safari's Preferences

- There's no Option to "Reset Safari" when I click on Safari while it's open.

Quite literally NOTHING has worked, and I'm both hesitant and unwilling to pay for software that won't work, either.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

I don't know what 'Bing redirect virus' is, but it sounds like when you are using Bing as your search engine, Bing is taking you to somewhere you don't want to go. My immediate reaction is stop using Bing. However, it would make sense to find whatever it is that is creating problems for you.

Let's try two things: first, download and install Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes is software that we use on a regular basis to suss out malware and software threats. It's free.

Go to http://malwarebytes.org and make sure to download the Mac version. Once it's installed, run the scan to see if there are any threats to your system.

The second thing to do - if you're still having problems after running Malwarebytes - is to run a system scan to see what's going on. EtreCheck is absolutely the way to go. Again, it's free. Go to https://etrecheck.com/ and click 'free download' at the top right. Run the scan and present the results here so we can help you figure out what's going on.
