Sometimes the text notification I receive are distorted on my iOS 12

I'm using iPhone 7 and was having same issue with an echo/reverb kind of sound with my alert tone for my messages. I was signed into my iPhone and went to settings and tapped sign out (apple id) and the problem stopped. I now have a solid alert tone (chords) when receiving a text message. But be sure to use the option to keep your contacts and safari data and make sure you download and keep your original photos on your phone. This is temporary until a fix comes along in an update. But be careful before you do this. I haven't signed back in to see if the problem is still gone.

Non-android or non-Apple?

It's clear it's apparently an SMS issue, but that doesn't necessarily mean just Android devices.

We are all having this same problem. Hence, the 9 pages of comments on this. There is not a fix at this point. Safe to say, we are all. hoping for a fix with the next IOS update- whenever that is released.

I don't think it has to do with the hand-off, as my iPhone 7 Plus will do it when not near my Macbook Pro. In fact my last 3 iPhones have done this going back at least 3 years. It's very frustrating and I've considered leaving Apple because of it. Also, my phone will sometimes only make a tone when I pick it up...as if it were sleeping until I moved it! This happens often. I just don't understand. I'm up to date on everything, I have over 80GB of storage left on it and it still behaves like this.

One thing I discovered a long time ago was to turn off bluetooth on my Macbook Pro, otherwise the iPhone would make zero noise or vibration when I got a text.

This has been happening to me with my iPhone X since about a month after I got the phone (which was right when it came out) I have spend so much time trying to fix it and it never works. For me it is every single text. The distortion is like my phone is having echoing, when other people are with me they think I have broken my phone. I just have to explain that it doesn’t work properly. Let’s hope one day they fix this!

None really, most the time the phone is locked with maybe 1 app open sometimes none

Got an 8 in July and it has happened since the day I got the thing. I haven't found the time to get to an actual Apple bar for help but by the sounds of it here, there may be no point in doing so???
