Upgrade of MacBook Pro 13 - inch Mid 2012

My MacBook Pro ( 13 - inch , Mid 2012 ) with the following specifications

1. Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

2. Memory 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

is very slow and I want to upgrade the hard disk to SSD. I searched internet to get exact specifications of compatible SSD and found :

Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD ( MZ - 76E1T0B / AM ) looks compatible.

But I want to be sure about it’s compatibility before purchasing.

You do not specify, so I can only assume this is a non-retina MBP.

I have the same model also with 8GB RAM. About a year ago I upgraded to a 512GB SSD from OWC. Samsung was once the gold metal choice but their reputation is tarnishing. We see quite a few complaints now whereas we seldom hear anything bad about the OWC option. Samsung support is also well below par. My son, a computer engineer, needed help with a Samsung drive form work and never got decent response or satisfaction.

I used this kit:

OWC DIY KIT: Express USB 3.0/2.0 2.5" Enclosure +... at MacSales.com

and also changed the HD cable to avoid worn-cable issues that happen in this model. This cable:

Apple 821-1480 Hard Drive / SSD Cable For 13-inch... at MacSales.com

The kit includes a little USB3 external drive enclosure that made the cloning of my old HD to the SSD very easy, plus the kit has the tools you need. Worth it, IMHO.

Instructions are provided online:

My 2012 MBP13 non-Retina feels like a new computer.
