Apple Music app Lagging

My apple music app is lagging a whole bunch, I've updated the app, I clear all my open apps and yet continues to take a while to load the app, sometimes it doesn't even open and brings me back to my home screen.

iPhone X, iOS 11.4.1

Hi adrianfromyou,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I see your Apple Music app is loading slowly.

Are any other apps running like this, or does it seem to only be Apple Music?

A great step to try is to Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch :

Restart your iPhone X or later

  1. Press and hold the Side button and either volume button until the slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.*
  3. After your device turns off, press and hold the Side button again until you see the Apple logo.

Restart your iPhone 8 or earlier, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Press and hold the Top (or Side) button until the slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.*
  3. After your device turns off, press and hold the Top (or Side) button again until you see the Apple logo.

If the issue persists after you restart, try testing on both a Wi-Fi and cellular data connection. If it seems to work on one connection type, that helps narrow things down a bit.

You also mentioned it sometimes quits to your Home screen. Your profile mentions that you're running iOS 11.4.1; is that right, or did you update to iOS 12.0.1? If you're still on iOS 11.4.1, making a backup and updating is a great idea. Here's How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch .

If you're already on iOS 12.0.1 and you find the issue happens on both Wi-Fi and cellular, you might try to reinstall the Music app. Here's how you can Delete built-in Apple apps on your iOS 12 or later device or Apple Watch. Keep in mind that this will remove any offline content, so you'd need to re-download this after:

Delete a built-in app from your device

  1. On your iOS device, touch and hold the app lightly until it jiggles. If the app doesn't jiggle, make sure that you're not pressing too hard.
  2. Tap on the app, then tap Delete.
  3. Press the Home button to finish.

If you have an Apple Watch, deleting an app from your iPhone also deletes that app from your Apple Watch.

Restore a built-in app that you deleted

  1. On your iOS device, go to the App Store.
  2. Search for the app. Make sure that you use the exact name of the app. Find the correct name of built-in apps.
  3. Tap User uploaded file to restore the app.
  4. Wait for the app to restore, then open it from your Home screen.
I hope this helps you.

Take care.
