apple music favorites mix is wrong

I have had apple music for a long time and I've never been able to get my favorites playlist to work. I have tried tweaking every personalization setting possible but it still only recommends old music of which I don't have anything like in my library or it recommends songs I listen to often that are already in my library, in fact I have specifically disliked the kind of songs it keeps suggesting me. I always hear good things about the favorites mix in apple music but for whatever reason, it just can't understand me.
