Why is my Nike App reopening itself every time I close it?

I have seen other people post about this and Apple claimed It was user error. However, I am just walking and my Nike app starts a workout and pauses and continues unless I put it on airplane mode. Nothing is touching the screen. this just started happening yesterday for me and the only way to avoid my Apple Watch talking all day is to put it on airplane mode but now I can’t go a whole day without needing to recharge my watch because the app is constantly open and running.
