WachOS 5.1 Bricked my Watch 4

Trying to install WatchOS 5.1. Just update my iPhone X to 12.1. Then went to update my SS Apple Watch 4 to watchOS 5.1. Put Watch on charger started download and install. It downloaded and started the install. Progress ring on watch started. It then went away. Now I just have the Apple Logo for the past 20 Minutes. No Progress ring.

Update:

Just picked up my Apple Watch from the Apple store (was ready yesterday). I check the serial number it and it's the same one. They said nothing was wrong with it but updated the software.

Waiting for it to restore. May have to call Verizon to get Cellular to work again since it failed during setup. This is going to be fun.

Finally got loaded. Software version is 5.0.1. Fudge, looks like I will have to call Verizon tomorrow to get cellular working again (business account).

Don't know how they fixed it, but my guess is they connected to the diagnostic port

Well this is bloody fantastic. Received the replacement watch (yea!) but when I attempt to pair and restore from a backup, the "latest" backup on my phone is from my old S3 watch that I replaced with the (now bricked) S4. Damnit... it didn't backup at all?? Argh. And of course I can't unpair the S4 because it's ... bricked.

You can go to mysupport.apple.com and put your Repair ID and Serial Number at Repair Lookup. It doesn't show when you can pick your apple watch at the last step, and it only show "Your repair is completed, and your product is on its way back to you." at the last step. Mine shows my product is on its way back to you on Friday. I called the Apple store to check when I can pick up to today, but the manager said they haven't received it yet. Hopefully I can pick up at Monday.

Hello again!

Tomorrow makes one week that I left my watch in apple authorized repair center, it’s true you read it right 7 days, and today I received this awesome email from them. I already contacted apple care but they didn’t know what to answer, they need to call the repair center first and only after that they can tell me something. Wait, what? Just because I’m in Portugal and this watch is not sold here I cannot get my warranty? Even worse, in a situation created by apple themselves when they launched this awesome update without having tested it correctly before doing it? Where is quality control? Come on, what is going on with the apple I knew? Really?!?

Here is the email they sent me today at 19:00h:

“Good afternoon,

The above referenced equipment is already ready to be lifted.

We regret to inform you that we can not offer service for this equipment. The service refers to the country of origin.

We advise you to call the Apple Spain line and see what solutions they indicate for the service.

Please make your withdrawal or contact us to arrange your delivery.

Best regards”

I really don’t want to add much more because I’m really angry with all this joke.

A nice evening and better luck for all of you!

I report to you when I have more news.

Take care.

Hello 👋🏼

Finnaly I got an email from Apple Repair Center today saying my watch was in store ready for pickup, so 22 days have passed since Apple bricked my watch and finnaly I have it back. Once on the store they told me that Apple cannot reproduce the problem, in other words that the watch was working properly once it got there, because they sent to store the same watch ( with same SN ), but I told them that the watch was not working as I demonstrated them when I left it there. I asked them to turn the watch on, and it booted and it was already in WatchOS 5.1.1
