Mojave Bluetooth problems

Bluetooth playback to home stereo ( 4 feet away) worked perfectly until Mojave upgrade (I knew I should not have upgraded). Now bluetooth wont connect or when it does the playback is unusable with loud cracking/popping noises, volume levels erratic and music slowing down and becoming "pixelated" (sounds like a scratched CD pinging and other noises).

I can connect via iPad and no problems whatsoever with streaming. I can connect using a friends iPhone with no problems either but can no longer stream music from iMac to stereo. Reset Bluetooth (what a pain on an iMac) but still the same problems. AppleCare tried to fix but couldnt.

Did all the usual stuff and also reset PRAM and SVM but no change. Tried test account but same problem. Reinstalled ios 12 but still the same problem.

I am unable to stream music from iMac to stereo and that is why I bought this iMac, to store hundreds of albums and stream them to my stereo. Now I cant stream it anymore after Apple upgrade.

EDIT: in addition, the icon for the device is missing from the drop down menu and doesnt appear in the preferences menu unless the device is turned on.

Any help out there or is this iMac just another waste of time and money?

Bluetooth issues with my iMac 5K 2015 drove me crazy for quite a while. Mouse and keyboard disconnecting and connecting. At last I bought an ASUS USB-BT400 bluetooth dongle ($15). Now the bluetooth connection to the mouse and keyboard are working flawlessly again. Hurray. I had to enter this in Terminal to make the ASUS dongle the main bluetooth connection:

To force the system to use USB Bluetooth dongle by default, run the following command:

sudo nvram bluetoothHostControllerSwitchBehavior=always

This will modify your boot kernel arguments.

To do opposite, use never. The change would be applied after the reboot. To return to the default, run:

sudo nvram -d bluetoothHostControllerSwitchBehavior

What in the world are you attempting to communicate? Mojave is Mac OS 10.14.x, IOS runs on iPad, iMacs, iPods but not Macs so your post make zero sense.

Un pair all BT devices, then Turn off Blue Tooth, restart in Safe Mode and then restart normally and turn Blue Tooth back on and attempt to re-pair with your devices and finally test.

I need actual help and not semantical nerds splitting hairs. If you know the problem I am talking about then any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I already turned off bluetooth, as stated, on my iMac, which is difficult to do as the mouse and keyboard are BT. In fact, it wouldnt let me turn off BT so I found another way to do it with an USB mouse. It didnt correct the problem and I stated this also.
