FCP library issues

Hi,

I'm trying to open my old FCP libraries on FCP 10.4.3...When doing this it says that I cannot update them. On these help pages the advice is to download older trial version of FCP (10.2 or 10.3) which I did but now the problem is that these older FCP versions do not open with macOSmojave so I'm stuck!!! What can I do???

You say "libraries" - if correct, that would mean this is content from version 10.1 or later.

The advice about running 10.2.3 trial was meant for people who were updating projects and events from before 10.1.

It is relevant to know which is your case. Do you really have libraries (files with the four-star purple icon) or older projects and events?

If indeed you have libraries (as it seems you do), from what version are they?

It could be that they can be updated by a previous version, as you say, or they could be corrupted.

To find out which version your library was created in:

- in the Finder, control-click the file and choose "Show Package Contents"

- open the "CurrentVersion.plist" file with a text editor like BBEdit or TextEdit. It a small text file in xml format, and the version should be clearly visible.

To run one of the older versions you may have to install an older OS on an external drive, or use a friend's machine with older OS.
