macOS App Store Shows the Downloaded Xcode App as “Not Downloaded”

I download the Xcode 10.1 from the Mac App Store. I checked its version, version is 10.1 in truth. However, the Mac App Store shows that Xcode is not downloaded like this:

User uploaded file

Is there any way to register the Xcode to App Store without re-download ? I think there is a way to scanning and adding existing apps into the App Store. Thanks.

Hi berkbabadogan,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. I see you have a question about an app's download status in the App Store.

Have you confirmed that Xcode is indeed downloaded to your Applications folder and opening as expected?

If you click the "cloud" icon, does it then change to "Open?"

If it doesn't, try clicking the Apple menu () > Restart, and then check again.

As another step, you could sign out of the App Store and then back in. To do this, open the App Store first. Then, click the Store menu at the top of your screen, click Sign Out, and then sign back in.

I hope these steps help.

Kindest regards.
