A1466 wifi upgrade

Hi,

I have an older 13" Macbook Air A1466 that currently has a 802.11n Broadcom chip from factory, is it possible to upgrade it to an AC varient from a newer Macbook?

If so what one would work as I guess the pin layout is proprietary to Apple.

The antenna cable is fairly short so the antenna pins need to be in the same place.

Sorry if this is a bit of a random question, but as I use this laptop as a download machine on WiFi I want to make the most out of it.

I doubt it, but go to Broadcom and see what is available. Your computer may have a replaceable daughterboard for Wi-Fi/BT. You can't change pin-outs, however.

I believe the daughterboard is replaceable. So I guess my question is can I not just buy any WiFi/Bluetooth Apple branded board to work with this machine?

No. What may work in newer models could be different from your model. I don't know if they are the same. Only Broadcom can answer that directly. Apple won't tell you.
