My iPhone 8 has been stuck on “Estimating time remaining...” for a couple of days now. I have tried resetting my network settings and have also hard rebooted a couple of times with no success. I have also disabled/enabled “Automatic Updates”.
When I Google this I can’t seem to find any solutions apart from the ones I’ve mentioned and already tried. Am I alone out here?

In some cases, updating via Wi-Fi can cause these issues, since only the new parts of the firmware are replaced on the device. If there are some glitches when the firmware is being put together again, these symptoms might happen.
Hi ingo, I have just downloaded IOS 12.1 through Itunes on my computer for my IPAD Air 2. The update was going fine until it got stuck just before finishing the update and it has been stuck on that for the past 6 hours now! is there any way you can help?
Did you try to update iOS 12.1 via iTunes on your computer?
No. On my iPhone, Settings-> General -> Software Update
Thank you Ingo2711. Updating through iTunes worked. I have done it through iTunes before, but it has become so convenient to just do it directly on the phone. Weird that it got stuck this time...
