I have iMac 27" mid 2010 and iPhone X.
I just updated my phone to iOS 12.1 then iTunes on my iMac wouldn't recognize my phone.
Is this something related to software update?
Or is this my iMac not having Mojave issue?
BTW, I can't download Mojave cause my iMac is super old according to Apple. 😟
iOS 12 requires iTunes 12.8 or better running on OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan or better.

If you are already running iTunes 12.8 it may be necessary in some cases to reinstall iTunes 12.8 while your device is unlocked and connected to USB in order to trigger an additional software download.

You need iTunes version 12.8 or later on your Mac.

I tried to connect my phone to PC laptop and it worked fine. 😟
My iMac is from 2010. I can't upgrade macOS to Mojave. 😟
I guess its time for me to get a new one.
