Couldn't move your calendars to iCloud because an error occured

"In Calendar, I have been getting the message "Couldn't move your calendars to iCloud because an error occurred. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, and then try again."

I cannot find any reason for this -- I am connected to the Internet, of course.

I have tried restarting my computer, but it's still happening.

I'm also getting an event notification that will not go away. I click close and it pops right back up. I even tried deleting the event in my calendar, but the event comes right back. Please help!

Mac Book, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Yes, I found another post and found this solution. It worked for me. Hope it works for you all.

Went into iCloud settings and disabled Calendar.

Went into Library (Finder / Go menu with Option key held down / Choose Library) and to the folders Calendars and Caches. Delete ALL contents from those folders.

Restart computer.

Re-open iCloud preferences and enable Calendar

Open Calendar and let calendars re-populate.

The fix above worked for me. Thanks to whoever posted it - must have been a tech support person, I can't imagine how anyone could figure it out otherwise (hidden items in the menu that you can't even see without a special key sequence).

Dear Amy Elliott: THANK YOU for this solution. I've wasted a whole day aimed at problem solving only to end up with problem persistence. Your directions are the 100% effective solution. I appreciate your making "solution info" available to all of us who need a fix after recently upgrading to Mojave OS.

I had the same issue. I solved it by removing the contents of the users ~/Library/Calendars directory as well with this one line command that can be run in the terminal.

cd ~/Library/Calendars && rm -rf *.calendar *.caldav *.group Calendar\ Cache*

Same thing for me. I recently upgraded to Mojave, and wonder if that has something to do with it. Didn't happen until a few days later, though. Calendar also created duplicates of some events.
