Seems like every time they upgrade the OS they break the java some how. So i re-installed Apples java and so far fingers crossed this pop-up has not reappeared. You get Apples java with this link Download Java for OS X 2017-001

hope this helps

I am beyond frustrated. I never did manage to get rid of this annoying pop-up and now that I have upgraded to Mojave I hoped it would go away. It's still popping up 😟. I have upgraded to the newest Java, restarted my MacBook Air (twice!) and it keeps coming back. I understand there are just certain applications that will trigger this pop up so I'd like to delete them but I don't know which ones they are!

Well done, sorted. I didn't realise that there are Mac specific Java applications.

There aren't. There are poorly written programs that use Java-based utilities that can only call Apple's defunct Java 6. Adobe's CS and some Facebook video chat are the two I'm aware of. Most developers can write Java apps that can use any version of Java.

I have upgraded to the newest Java

That won't help as you need one of the oldest Java versions. The software you installed which requires Java was poorly written and can't figure out how to request anything but the last version Apple supported. If they weren't stupid, they would have written the code to open that Java utility using any version of Java. Alas, you are stuck with it.

Either uninstall the crappy software, or install Apple's legacy Java 6.

…but how do I know which ones are the culprits? I don't have Adobe's CS or FB video chat...

I don't know. Those are the only two I remember seeing tied to the issue.

You can look in /Library/LaunchAgents or ~/Library/LaunchAgents or your Login Items to see what is running at login.

I you download and run this software, you can post the report here by Share Report > Copy Report and paste it into a reply. That will show you what you have installed. http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
