Contacts being there but not showing up.

This is a problem I have for about a year, since I upgraded to the iPhone X, and had all the way through all the iOS updates. All the contacts I enter don't show up on my contact list, or my whatsapp, but if I retype the number or they call me, they do.

So far the only workaround I've found for this is to immediately call them after entering. That makes them appear. The ones entered before I started using that method, still don't show up even if I call them, so I have to delete them, and readd them. You can see how that can be a problem.

I'm sure the solution is really simple, but haven't worked it out yet. I have searched and tried unsyncing it with iCloud, tried checking if the contacts weren't on a different unchecked group and restoring the phone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

How are you managing your contacts? Are you using iCloud, or a contact sync with a mail account? If you go to Settings>Contacts, if you are using more than one service, then there should be one indicated as the default. Also, when in Contacts and you look in the upper left corner, what do you see. Make sure you are looking at All Contacts and Contact groups. This might help you. Hi, thanks for replying.

I'm syncing them from a Gmail account, I stopped dual syncing them when I read that could be the problem. I checked the settings and that account shows up as the default. When I look at groups there's only one, and it matches the default one, which is checked. I even tried turning it on and off to see if maybe that solved the problem.

There's a specific number of contacts affected by this, and are the ones I entered since about October 2017 to now. The older contacts are fine.

I just entered the number of someone who is affected by this, and their name shows up on the dial pad, so the numbers are in there.

I'll check the page and maybe later try resyncing it with iCloud to see if it solves the problem.

Thanks for your help!
