IPad Pro (2018) audio problems

I never had a problem with my old iPad Pro taking a cable from headphone jack into my Bose PA to play backing tracks.

With my new iPad Pro, and the USB-C > headphone adapter, I am getting periodic low frequency clicks while playing music (or even when not). It sounds like something is switching on and off. It seems to happen at random.

Anybody have any idea what is happening?

iPad Pro 11-inch, Wi-Fi, iOS 12.1

Hi dobrojoe.

Have you heard these clicks without connecting the headphones?

I get these clicks every time I open a video on YouTube, its a weird sound, but I hear them without headphones.

I don't use headphones, I use powered speakers. The pops happen without any app open at 30 second intervals and when I open or close an audio file in any app.
