How to upload large video from iPhone 8 Plus to PC?

I am trying to upload videos that are 20+ minutes from my iPhone 8 Plus to my PC (windows).

I tried using a USB, but no videos over like 2-3 minutes showed up in the file folders.

I have tried Dropbox, iCloud, and Google Drive. All of them got stuck at “waiting to upload.” Yes, I was connected to WiFi and data. Yes, my phone was charged. Yes, I have the latest software update. No luck.

I tried uploading the videos from my phone to YouTube because I figured I could just download them to my PC from YouTube that way. The YouTube app would not allow me to upload the videos.

I tried emailing myself the videos from my phone. Even after trimming the footage down, the email was going to compress the videos and mess with the resolution to make the file smaller.

I repeated many of these steps using my sister’s laptop just to see if maybe my PC was the issue.

I finally got to the point of just trimming the videos down to 2 minute segments and then using the USB to upload them. This is time consuming because it takes almost 20 minutes for my pc to download even a 2 minute video. I’m assuming there has to be an easier way than this.

Is there a higher capacity USB that can upload longer videos? Is there another dropbox alternative that actually works?

I’ve been at this for five hours. I don’t know what deity I upset to deserve this.

Help.

Hi Eljopel,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I see you're running into an issue importing videos from your iPhone to a PC.

To double-check, are these videos that you've recorded?

I recommend double-checking these steps from the article titled Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch . There are a few links to specific steps you might try depending on your Windows version:

Import to your PC

You can import photos to your PC by connecting your device to your computer and using Windows Photos app:

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes on your PC. Importing photos to your PC requires iTunes 12.5.1 or later.
  2. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your PC with a USB cable.
  3. You might need to unlock your iOS device using your passcode.
  4. You might also see a prompt on the iOS device asking you to Trust This Computer. Tap Trust or Allow to continue.

Then, follow the steps in these Microsoft knowledge base articles to learn how to import photos to Windows Photos app:

When you import videos from your iOS device to your PC, some might be rotated incorrectly in Windows Photos app. You can add these videos to iTunes to play them in the correct orientation.

Photos and videos that you sync from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes can't be imported back to your computer.

Learn what to do if you can't import photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer.

I hope the information I've provided helps!

Take care.
