On my phone, I have a main playlist that I keep the majority of my songs in. I have this synced to my mac iTunes; however, all the 900 songs are grayed out on my mac except for 4. I tried restarting my computer, and I tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing my computer, but nothing happened.

I tried following the instructions from the first link, and I stopped at the step "scroll down and check Manually manage music and videos" because I didn't see that on my iTunes anywhere (maybe because that post is a year old and newer versions of iTunes have been released?). The closest thing I found to that was "sync only checked songs and videos", but that was grayed out and unable to be clicked on. As for the second link, it doesn't pertain to my problem.
Do you mean greyed out when viewed in the Mac's songs list, for example, or when looking at the content of the device through the lens of iTunes? Could you perhaps provide a screenshot?
