2018 MacBook Air HD camera is in poor quality.

Same problem here, in China.

I have a MacBook Air 2013 and even the webcam on it is way better than the webcam in the new MacBook Air.

I hope it is a software problem rather than hardware, cuz hardware it is more reluctant for apple to admit and repair.

Except that I am pretty satisfied about the new MacBook Air, what a shame.

Yes I'm experiencing the same, I have recently bought MacBook Air 2018. And camera is so blurry that I though that may be I got a defective device and I compared it with my friend's 2015 MacBook Air. And the older one is certainly better than the one I'm using.

If I consider it's use only for video calling, even for that only I don't think it's a good enough camera. I have attached one pic from the same.

If this issue is not fixed via a software update, or a recall by the end of February, I'm returning my 2018 Macbook Air. Simple as that. I've compared the Air to the Pro side by side at the store under the same lighting, and the Air camera is markedly worse. It's simply unacceptable.

I have the same problem with my MacBook Air 13" 2018 Retina. I am from Berlin, Germany and bought it here a month ago. Unfortunatly I just noticed today. So I can´t give it back.

I am extremely shoked and disappointed! I never expected something like this from Apple and especially from a 1350€ device! Obviously the advertisment on the webiste is a lie! The camera is no where near HD, its even worse than my first webcam in 2005.

I hope there will be a fix to this problem. Is there anything we can do to get our money back?

Angela, you did great job updating Wikipedia. I am just not sure you picked the right location for that line (somewhere at the bottom). Could you please move it higher, into the table "Technical Specifications" for 3rd generation? There is a row "Video Camera", and your comment would be quite appropriate there. Especially if you make it bold. I guess the same is about Italian page.

Almost 1.3 month into this machine now. Can I go back to the authorised retailer and get an exchange or refund now? I'm thinking of upgrading to the MBP 2018... so I'd be paying another $450 for it. Thoughts?

Same problem with the camera of my brand new Mac Book Air 2018. It´s not acceptable so poor quality image in a 2000€ laptop. iPad camera FaceTime or iphone´s look perfectly clear in low light conditions and incredible much better.

If the camera is really a 720P resolution camera and it is a soft problem about ISO and frame rate management, please, at least, inform us about it here... it doesn´t make any sense Apple let users that have spent so much money in their laptops with no information and solution along so much time... We bought a 720P sharp image FaceTime camera, so please give us what we spent our money in.

Same issue, I looked at the pictures promoting the camera quality and it's very poor. They are definitely misleading, I tried different lighting and there's not much difference in the quality of the camera.

Apple is not being helpful at all. Many of us are experiencing this problem straight out of the box. We all paid too much money to be given a falsely advertised camera. Rather than treating this as a user error, Apple needs to address this as a factory malfunction. What is being done about this? We should all be compensated if this issue cannot be resolved.

I have the same issue. Got my Macbook about 5 days ago, i tried Face Time wth my sister, and just hilarious how bad

the camera is. My old macbook air still with me, and it is a Huge diff, sooo much better. It's really annoying...

Ruskes,do you work for Apple? Your questions are irrelevant.Apple did a terrible job with these cameras.I compared them site by site in the store.It’s time to acknowledge the mess and do something about it.Shame on Apple.

I'm having the same issues on my new MacBook Air 2018. I thought it was just me being over analytical but after a bit of research, I found out it was a common issue with the new laptop. I've spent over $1500 on this laptop and it is my first ever Mac computer. This is really disappointing especially because I do use the camera for quite a lot for FaceTime calls and much better camera quality was promised with this laptop. Any suggestions on what to do to try and fix this problem??

this is my first MacBook or any apple laptop ever. my last laptop was a 2008 HP pavilion which love and still works but really slow. Iv always wanted a MacBook and I finally got it for Christmas and now this. so I am disappointed.
