I just bought the new MacBook Air, noted that the HD camera is so blurry. The photo that captured using this MacBook turns out to be worse than my iPhone 7 front camera. Anyone facing the same problem?

Same here. I followed all the recommendations to fix it (trying different apps, users, utilities, etc), afterwards I called apple support and after 40min on the phone they told me that this specific computer was designed to have bad quality camera under non-natural light. They said it will only look good during day light and if I'm in a room with lots of natural light. Unbelievable! They said there's nothing they can do from their side to fix it because is not a software issue or a bug. Their only suggestion to "fix it" was that I only use the camera by day in a bright room, I'm speechless!
Unfortunately I can't return the computer because it has been a month since I bought it, but if you are still on time to return it I highly recommend to do so since apple doesn't have any solution and apparently they are not willing to do anything to compensate this fault.
Shame on apple! After 20 years of using mac I'm planning to leave it once and for all.
My God, the camera quality is SO bad on the MacBook air. I CANNOT believe it. If they don't address this by January 8th, I'm returning it.
A little off topic, but has anyone noticed how on the "CAPS LOCK" key, the "CA" looks a bit faded when the keys are lit? Or is that just mine...
I too am experiencing very poor video quality on my FaceTime camera. I was shocked at how BAD the quality is. It reminded me of the early 2000's webcam cameras with 480 quality. I am returning my laptop today. It is inexcusable how terrible the camera is on an extremely pricey laptop.

I looked at the new pros and everyone had the same issue but my old one just died so I needed one now but facetime is how I keep in contact with family back home. I have other desktops that are fantastic but the new macbook air will just not work for me. The old one will at least do my school work and keep me in contact with my family and hopefully If apple fixes the issue I will be able to go back to a new version but honestly what is the point of upgrading if you are downgrading other features you use the most?? I will keep my eye out and if the problem is resolved I will absolutely go back but until then I will just wait.
If everyone saves $25 per week, then perhaps we will have enough money to afford a new MBA by the time they resolve the issue.
In the mean time I’m sure they will continue shipping sub standard product, just like other ethical corporations do... 😉
i guess you could always drop $60 on a new webcam.
Even if you don’t use the webcam much - it’s a hard thing to accept, after dropping over 1k on a ‘state of the art’ product.

I have a theory, maybe if your device still in warranty, you can change the old device by a new one .. but i do not know if that is possible, anyway, there are a lot of users that returned their devices because there is not solution yet. in my case, i still waiting because i can return my device till January 15th. So i don't know, i have a little bit of hope..

We just bought a brand new 2018 MacBook Air, and right out of the box the camera is awful - worse than my old MacBook Pro, worse than our old iPad.
Welcome to the censored club moneysnap. Two of my posts were deleted. No one may be able to read this one either. One post admittedly was a rant and mentioned the poor workers in their factory. The second proposed the idea of a class action lawsuit over the false advertising.
The thing is, a lawsuit may be the most effective way to fix this problem, though online rants may also work... 😉
Ive followed the suggestions and continue to have significantly grainy and subpar resolution. Is there a software fix coming? Is this a faulty hardware issue?
We need apple accountability on this, and resolution please.
If it costs $400 to replace the camera (see my previous post) and they offer this solution, it could get expensive If everyone went for it.
Don’t know how many 2018 MBAs have been sold, but let’s say they have sold 300,000 globally.

If you cant run the same test on another camera, someone here, with a better camera should run the same test and provide here the results. Its a very good comparison to prove then the false advertisement.
They replace your MacBook Air 2018 by a New MacBook Air 2018 ? And the problem of the webcam bad quality is still here or not ?
We need too create a buzz for Apple change all camera by a new camera with a correct quality. Because it's more useful too buy the MBA 2017 the camera is correct than this MBA 2018.
Maybe we need to keep buying 2018 MacBook airs and returning them to help cycle the inventory.
If 100 people returned and exchanged 1 MBA per day over 100 days - that would be 10,000 retuned airs.
How many airs would need to be returned to see a new model?
Did you find the camera quality on the MBP better? I think MBAs and MBPs have the same problem. MBPs may be hundreds and even thousands of dollars more expensive but the camera quality is the same. This thread should not be limited to MBAs only.
Mine is awful too! I just used it for the first time and cant believe how awful the camera quality is for a brand new macbook air! I will not be silent about this because we spent alot of money on this computer and the resolution is god awful
What a joke. Unacceptable. And they continue selling them instead of taking the MB Air off their shelves. Apple, when are you going to act on this?
Might as well knock off 700 $ off the price and offer a device without camera.
