what is the folder iCloud Drive (archive)

This showed up under my documents. I tried enabling Documents & Desktop storage in iCloud but then changed my mind and de-selected it. Some of my files appear to be in transition - either uploading to iCloud or downloading from iCloud.

The iCloud info says files will also be stored locally on your Mac if you have enough space on the drive. Where would they be?
