Apple haven’t released a USB-C to Lightning interface-convertor. Nobody, other than Apple, will be aware of any intent to do so, if at all. Unfortunately, in this instance, interface conversion is more than just a physical plug.
At present, your available options are
1) to use headphones/earbuds with a USB-C connector (which will incorporate the necessary DAC).
2) ”standard” analogue headphones/earbuds with a 3.5mm plug - coupled to a USB-C adaptor (incorporating a DAC).
3) using a multi-way USB-C hub device.
Apple currently offer a proprietary solution for option 2, whilst for option 3 at least two third-party manufacturers have released custom hub devices for the new 2018 iPads. Other than that, AirPods are Apples targetted solution.
Maybe I have a good news for somebody. I have successfully connected my Steinberg UR 22 mkII audio interface to my new IPad Pro 2018 :
Ur22 USB B USB A cable to Apple USB A USB c adapter. It works very well with all my audio apps (garage band Cubasis Audiobus etc)
My Steinberg audio interface has a switch to be powered through a 5v powerbank and switchs on when is connected to IPad Pro.
Hope it helps. I believe that with this method could be connected any audio interface. The good news is that the apple adapter is ok for audio transfer too.
Now I would like to try also a direct cable USB B USB C without the adapter.
all the best to all
I also just purchased the 3rd Gen iPad Pro when my original (2.5yr) iPad Pro died; I had invested in several MIDI adapters; one of which, made by KORG had a lightning plug that plugged into the iPad and had MIDI, Audio and Power (for the iPad) connectors.
I've yet to find an adapter or similar device that'll power the iPad, provide me (lag free) audio for my mixer and be the MIDI interface for my keyboards and my (also an investment) numerous IOS Music generating apps. Im hoping someone is quicker to market with a USB-C Midi - IpadPower - Audio interface adapter. Midi wise Im pretty much dead in the water; unless I'm really missing something basic here.
Yep, funny how there sales are down and they could generate cash with one these. I suspect though, they either can't, will not, or don't know how to accomplish it. Numbers of users that need it are very low. They will depend on original companies that made the product to bail them out.
After all, they will get royalties from each and every company that needs to make one vs them investing in the whole process and only get it sales on it.
Apple is not dumb. There going to suck as much cash as they can out of companies and people who buy there products.
Its not rocket science, its bean counters at Apple.
Guitar players need a female lightning to male USB-C to run the floor controller interface from IK Multimedia that runs a Mini-DIN to Lightning cable from the floorboard to an apple device. The device is called the Stomp I/O. A lightning to USB-C interface is needed to use the new iPad Pro.
Please note that ANKER will save us shortly:
Anker is also releasing a USB-C to female Lightning cable that’s primarily designed as an audio adapter, letting you use Lightning headphones with USB-C devices like the new iPad Pro or recent Apple laptops. The USB-C to Lightning cables will go on sale in March from $20.99 and the audio adapter will follow the next month with pricing TBC.
"Female lightning"???
What are you trying to connect?
Wouldn't this meet your need?
Actually I’m trying to connect this to the 11” iPad Pro
EarPods with Lightning Connector
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I imagine my “problems“ will be addressed in the Apple ecosphere if I have a little patience.
Right, we really cannot speculate here, but I agree with you.
If you look good in Apple Store Online, there is wireless version of Ear Pods, works via bluetooth. But apparently $$$ 😉
I believe you must be talking about AirPods.
There are no wireless EarPods that I know of.
I got the converter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. Physically, it is perfect, but the signals are not transmitted.
Hi, in my case I want to connect the microfone Mv88 from Shure a the IPadPro.
It's interesting. But in my case not very very operative. I need an adaptador not a cable. I don't want that the microphone will hang but I need it will be firm and directed.
Thanks.
