Photos cannot download original

Hi there,

Photos uploading to iCloud but when I go to share from Mac Book Pro Photos reports error:

Internet Connection Required

An Internet connection is required to download a larger version of these items for sharing.

Rest assured, an internet connection is present (i am able to write this). Tried wired and wireless.

Restarted laptop, restarted application. Ensured latest updates etc. Still same issue.

When you go back to try new error:

Error Downloading Photo

An error occurred while downloading a larger version of this photo for editing. Please try again later.

All connectivity works correctly through iPhone.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

Do you have a firewall or other security software enabled, for example a VPN or into virus software?

On High Sierra third party security software could be blocking the connection to Apple's cloud servers, while other applications are able to use the internet. Also, iCloud Photo Library is not working well with cellular hotspots on High Sierra, it needs Wi-Fi or ethernet.

All connectivity works correctly through iPhone.

What do you mean exactly? Are you using your iPhone as a cellular Hotspot?

You do have plenty of free storage on your Mac?

And still enough free could storage?

What is the file format of the items that will not download? JPEG? HEIC? A Video?

Does to happen with each and every item in your iCloud Photo Library, or only a few?

Where is your Photos Library stored? Is the library on your start-up volume or on an external drive?

But you did not yet tell us anything about the file formats of the items that will not download - What is the file format of the items that will not download? JPEG? HEIC? A Video?

Can you download the items directly from iCloud when you open your iCloud web page at www.icloud.com and sign in with your AppleID? Open the Photos.app there and select one of the items that do not download to your Mac. The Download button on this page has a hidden menu, where you can select to download the original. Does that work?
