Sleep mode

I put my Mac to sleep when I'm away from the computer, but when I try to wake it up, it is very slow responding. It takes a while, even if I keep pushing keys to make it wake up.

Is ther a setting that will make this wake-up time faster?

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.1)

If it’s not the hard disk drive spinning up...

Wake is usually pretty quick, so there may be something happening with the system hardware or its software configuration. There’s no make wake slower (or faster) setting, though.

Can you download and run and post the output of Etrecheck, as that’ll provide an anonymized list of the hardware and software, and might point to a potential trigger...

I’d start by removing what looks like three anti-malware packages per the vendors’ documentation, and test again. Comodo, avira, malwarebytes. At most, one. Once this is sorted.

There’s some other odd stuff installed, if that doesn’t resolve the slow restarts.

More memory would help, too.

I’d also enable gatekeeper to the default Apple and identified developers setting, and would not depend on anti-malware detecting problems.
