Mojave Screenshots Issue

Hi all,

I am having issues with the screenshot function in Mojave.

1. When using shift+command+5, I pre-selected 'desktop', clicked 'capture', saw the floating thumbnail and waited until it disappeared. No screenshot appeared on my desktop. I had to open up a finder window and go to 'Recents' to find it. As soon as I clicked on it in the 'Recents' folder, it then showed up on my desktop! I also tried command+shift+4, same result. Plus I tried a number of other options [swiping, marking up, etc.] to get it to appear on my desktop, nothing has worked.

2. I don't know how or why, but I now have 2 'Desktops' in my pre-selection list!

At the moment this is adding a great deal of time and irritation to my work flow, how do I get the screenshot to just appear on my desktop as of old, and how do I get rid of my second desktop in the pre-select? Is there a way to reset the screenshot utility?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), macOS Mojave (10.14)

By default it should display a thumbnail image in bottom right corner for about 5 seconds. It is supposed to let you click and make adjustments directly without needing to open a separate application. Maybe that explains the delay you are seeing? You can turn that off by pressing command-shift-5 and uncheck it (don’t remember the wording but it is fairly obvious).

If you unchecked it and still it is not appearing:

As a test, try creating a folder in your Desktop and choose that as your destination. Do screenshots appear as expected? Then try setting it back - or, as you may find it much cleaner, just use that folder and unclutter the Desktop...
