latest version of itunes

have a brand new iPhone X (IOS 12.1). When I try to connect to iTunes I get the message ''...iPhone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version (12.1.3). How can I fix this?

The current version of iTunes for Windows is 12.9.1.4. Apple Software Update may not always fetch it for you. 12.1.3.6 is also the last build that works on Vista. Assuming you have Windows 7 or better install iTunes 12.9.1.4 from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ or use a direct link from this list of iTunes installers.
