Question

Only purchased songs visible in playlist/Library duplicating downloads

Two part discussion:

1) I am only able to see purchased songs in playlists. What makes this worse is that the songs that are hidden are actually purchased songs as well. I don't know how it's picking and choosing which songs. I've looked all over the toolbar and can't find where to show all songs in a playlist.

2) Additionally, it is showing my downloads are in the cloud. That isn't the case, those songs were downloaded to this computer. Now when I hit the cloud download, it's duplicating all recent purchases.

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, 2 TBT3), macOS Mojave (10.14.1)

Do you have either Apple Music or iTunes Match? If so could the subscription have lapsed?

Had you kept your music stored locally, or had you offloaded any into the cloud? Have you tried the suggestions in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash yet?

How do I go to a previous library folder?

I will say that I saw an option to only show purchased items when it switched to this. I unselected it and it showed all the songs, but then reverted. Now I can't find that in an menu drop down. If I sync my phone, will it add those songs to my library. I'm really leery about losing that.

I had Apple Music but never used it to get music, the free subscription has expired.

The library may have been damaged in a way that you weren't aware of and been silently reset. You could try restoring the most recent version of the database from Time Machine or the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. Failing that you can import what it is in the media folder to library rather than downloading tracks that are already on your computer.

It wasn't upgraded and it didn't crash. This is only showing on a few playlists, not all of them.
