Can't use iTunes or upgrade macOS

My MAC has OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5 and iTunes version 12.8. iTunes states that in order to use my iPhone with iTunes I need to install OS X 10.11.4 or later. However, I cannot download 10.11.4 onto my computer because it is a Macbook Pro from 2011 and not supported.

Is there a way to downgrade iTunes back to before so I can use my phone with it?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), iTunes 12.8

iOS 12 requires iTunes 12.8 or better running on OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan or better.

See How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support to check if upgrading is feasible. A 2011 MacBook Pro should qualify for the upgrade.

If you can't/won't upgrade then a workaround for music is to use iTunes Match or Apple Music, and use iCloud for backup and data transfer.
