Bootcamp failure open ISO file

Trying to install a Bootcamp partition on a 2015 Macbook Pro 13" Retina, 500 GB SSD 16GB RAM, i7 processor, macOS Mojave 10.14.1, with 145 GB available space. Downloaded the 64 bit ISO from Microsoft, all network drives, sharing, Time Machine switched off, no FireVault, no pending software updates.

The Boot Camp Assistant fails regardless of the size of Bootcamp partition (I tried 100 GB but went as low as the minimum 48GB just see if it was the size issue), it never manages to complete the task and the failure is at the same point in the process every time, after downloading the Windows tools. After failure, the "Roll Back Partitions" feature does not work either, I have to go into Disk Utility to erase the Bootcamp partition every time.

So question: Having exhausted all the ideas I could find online, what is the way forward? Or is Boot Camp not supported in Mojave or on my vintage of MacBook Pro?
