Are my the AirPods I bought fake?

Recently I bought 2 pairs of Airpods from a guy on OfferUp for 200$ and they looked real to me until I got home and found out that they couldn’t connect to my phone automatically from the home screen (basically like regular Bluetooth headphones where you have to go to settings) and I thought that was weird. Then I checked the serial number of both boxes and they were the same. That‘s not a good sign is it?

If both boxes have the same serial number, then they're definitely fake.

Try to return them, but the seller probably sold them to you knowing they were fake.

I'd say not. If you're close enough to an Apple store, I'd take them in to verify their authenticity. And/or, I would return them for a refund.
