iTunes won't sync with iPhone

iTunes 12.9 will not sync new music that I have purchased with my iPhone 6+. I create a new playlist, but syncing will not add it to my iPhone during sync.


I am running macOS 10.14.1 on a 2018 MacBook Pro.


Would appreciate any recommendations.

See the recent exchange that starts here: Re: Itunes Playlist Windows 10 Does Not Match Iphone. If iTunes and your iPhone are downloading the purchases independently there is a potential for the two copies to have different IDs by which they would be referenced in a playlist. I'm sure iTunes should be able to work it out, but perhaps this isn't working properly in the current builds of iTunes/iOS. A note to Feedback - iTunes - Apple might be in order.


I'm currently using Apple Music so this isn't something I can test.
