Why can’t I buy individual songs from my phone like before? I want to buy an individual song and download to my phone. I don’t want a monthly subscription.

To everyone who has experienced this loop ... It turns out I was clicking on the Apple Music icon 🎵 ... thinking it was the iTunes Store. Not so! If you go to the iTunes Store icon (white star on violet background), you can still buy individual songs & albums without signing up for the monthly subscription.
