2018 iPad Pro battery drain problem

Just got my first iPad Pro and I'm having problems with the iPad completely draining while it's in standby. This time it hasn't been used in four days, and it was so drained I had to plug it into the charger for it to come on. This happened once before, and I thought maybe the wifi was draining it, so I put it in Airplane mode before putting it away. I stored it with the pencil attached, so maybe it's draining the iPad? I have a regular iPad Air and the battery will barely drain if it's left for days even with the wifi/bluetooth on.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Me too. After having the previous version of the iPad Pro 10.5" that never noticeably drained battery and lasted for many hours while using and many days while idle, the new 2018 iPad Pro 11" drains way too fast. I noticed on my Battery tab on the Settings app that I was leaving Mail open all the time, and that Mail would check for new messages every few minutes, and that the Battery tab was saying my Mail app was using the vast majority of my battery cycle (no less than 58%, and up to 95%). So I have now resorted to closing the Mail app every time I use it and I will test to see if this increases battery life substantially. I will also try turning off Bluetooth, although this absolutely should not be the case... all of us should be able to leave WIFi on, Bluetooth on, and all other baseline settings on and still not have a massive battery dump every time we open the cover. Stopping Mail from continuously checking I can see, but Bluetooth? Anyone else checked to see if Mail is part or most of the culprit?

Ok everyone. Thought i would weight in again after using the iPad for a months.

Initially i thought i needed to disable Bluetooth to stop the battery drain overnight. I dont. I find the easiest way is to leave the pencil un-attached when I’m not using the iPad, it charges so fast anyway it doesn’t seem to matter to much to my workflow. I just attach it to the charge slot when I’m using the iPad but not using the pencil and it charges. Problem solved. I get zero drain overnight. I have even re-enabled background app refresh for a bunch of apps, no i ssues.

So while not perfect, having the pencil not attached works for me. Hoping to see an update address this issue with the pencil though.

For all you other poor suckers getting drain regardless of pencil/BT i feel your pain.

My daughter's ipad decided to shut down and not start even after charging. Took it to the dealer and they initially said it was a battery issue, then a screen issue but ultimately it was ruled as a software issue. Firmware was changed and the ipad came back to life again. However, now it takes over 14 hours to charge fully and drains rapidly on standby as well. Bluetooth is off. Only wifi is on. Not sure what is the problem. Anybody can help?
