iMovie Clips Blank in Library

I have just opened iMovie (10.1.10) to resume work on a project I've been working on but the clips in the library are mostly blank (black boxes) the edited movie is still there and will play the sound but no picture. I've checked the source file and the original media file contains all of the .mov files. It appears iMovie has failed to fully connect to the movie files? I'm running Mojave10.14.1.

Is there a way to refresh/resync the connection between the software and the movie files?

Hi, warren,

It might be a corrupt preference. Try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the clips display properly.

If that doesn't work, the project itself may be corrupted. Try doing an Edit/Select All, Edit/Copy, of the media in the project and paste the media into a newly created project.
