The iPad 3 is very slow on iOS 9.3.5. I would like to install iOS version 7.1.2. On it, the iPad 3 worked fine. Why don't the developers allow this? I am sure that the tablet is very slow working not only for me but also for all iPad 3 owners who have updated to iOS 9.3.5. Developers, let us officially return to the previous version! Thanks in advance!

There is no way now to revert to any older version of iOS, AT ALL, at this very late timeframe.

Sorry.

If your iPad 3 is slow,

Tap on the link below to my iDevice/iOS performance/optimisation user tips link.

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-10344

Try all of these tips and leave each tip active together. Do not simply try every tip individually, expecting just one tip to be a performance “cure all”.

Many of these tips are designed to work together to improve overall iOS/iDevice performance.

Also, I would STOP using that 2-2-1/2 year old Safari web browser, as it is, probably, not safe and secure to use any longer, and seek out a third party web browser that is STILL currently being updated and STILL being supported on iOS 9.3.5.

Here are a few third party web browsers that I know are STILL being updated and supported on iOS 9.

Popular third party, iOS 9 and earlier compatible Web browsers are more quickly dwindling, now.

iCab Mobile Web browser

Dolphin Web browser

Dolphin Incognito Web browser

Snow Bunny Web browser

Private Browsing Web browser

Maxthon Web browser

Good Luck!

Really???

Most of these tips DO speed up iPad performance.

How much free data storage space is left on that iPad 3?

Did you free up any internal data storage space.

Do you have anything in iCloud that is activated that constantly is working in the background, slowing your iPad 3 down?

Did you do the hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

My performance tips ARE the fix for a slow iPad.

If you used ALL of my performance tips your iPad 3 should NOT still be slow.

Your iPad 3 should be running better than you are still describing.

My wife and I use iPad 2 and 3 models and I have setup all of thess tips on both of these iPads and while performance is NOT lightning fast, these iPads are not running slow by any stretch of imagination, either.

I have an iPad 2 which has much lesser hardware than your iPad 3 on iOS 9.3.5 and it is running better than you describe your newer iPad 3 is running on the same iOS.

Make sure you have covered my questions above and go back and make sure you have done everything listed in my performance tips.

Your iPad 3 performance should be noticeably better.

Good Luck to You!

Are you sure you've looked for all causes of slowness that MichelPM itemizes? My iPad 2 runs just as fast on 9.3.5 as it did on iOS 5 that came with it in 2012, and much better than on iOS 8, which was never completely stable on two different iPads.
