Error 110 when creating USB boot drive

I have sucessfully upgraded my 2012 Macbook Air to Mojave. Now I want to upgrade the SSD to a 500gb. Sucessfully prepped a USB flash drive to be a bootable installer. Then carefully following instructions, I went to Terminal and copy and pasted the text using my drive name. Enter and password. All seems to go well until the end and I get an error.

couldn't mount dmg /volumes/install macos mojave/install macos mojave.app/contents/sharedsupport/basesystem.dmg (error code 110)mount of basesystem failed. the bless of the installer disk failed.

Any ideas what this means?. I've googled my finger off to no success.

Thanks,

Larry B.
