Airplay 2 Delay Correction

I‘ve seen a number posts on this topic and a frustrating lack of response from Apple, so I thought I’d just reiterate the issue. Airplay 2 needs a delay correction setting for multi room audio, or it is useless. Is this being worked on? I just purchased a HomePod, but I’m not sure if I can keep it because it’s not in sync with my home theater setup in the living room. Apple TV 4K connected directly to Sony dn1080 receiver via HDMI. I’ve tried setting to pure-direct on the receiver, changing every audio output setting on Apple TV, and no matter what I do, there is a delay of a matter of milliseconds that equates to an echo, with no way of fixing it. So what’s the solution, Apple? Should I replace my entire 5.1 surround system and $180 Apple TV 4K with an array of HomePods since you can’t be bothered to add fundamental software adjustments? In a similar thread an Apple moderator had the audacity to blame the user in selecting the “best solution” as a response that essentially blamed the user’s setup. Please. All audio systems have unique amounts of delay. We’re not About a 1-2 second delay here, we‘re talking about milliseconds, and it ruins the experience.

You might want to let Apple know. You can do so here:

Feedback - HomePod - Apple

Is this being worked on?

You are asking other users.....just like you....whether Apple is "working" on something. No one here will know what a notoriously secretive company like Apple may or may not be working on at any given time. To get an answer, you will have to speak directly with someone at Apple.....who will very likely tell you that they cannot discuss the subject with you. Might worth a try though.

I assume that someone at Apple checks the official support forums as well though, don't they?

There are a few Apple employees who act as forum moderators, but they do not offer any kind of support or advice to users who post here.....since the main task for moderators is to try to keep things civil. While these folks might provide feedback to the higher ups at Apple, there is no assurance that they will do so.....or that they will even see your post.

Apple will acknowledge that they have received your feedback form, but they will not communicate further from that point.

Users have been asking about delay controls since AirPlay (AirTunes as it was known originally) was first introduced, but maybe Apple will listen to you. Good luck!

Thanks Bob, I've submitted this as feedback on the HomePod as well. I assume that someone at Apple checks the official support forums as well though, don't they? Or is it just a forum moderator who is not connected to the relevant teams? Would seem odd if so.

From what I can tell there is nowhere to submit an email support ticket on the link you provided but I will give them a call when I get a chance to submit the feedback. Not sure if this issue classifies as a "feature request" or a tech support issue. I suppose it's both.
