My 2017 MacBook will not connect to wifi.

My 2017 MacBook Air will not connect to Wifi unless it sits next to the router. If I move a few feet away it drops the signal. Also if I try and connect to new networks I am asked for a WPA2 password even though I have typed the correct one.

iPad, iOS 4.2
