Why do my video recordings freeze on iPhone XR?

My video recordings freeze while I am recording using the native camera app. Currently using a brand new iPhone XR running iOS 12.1.


Tried multiple times with the same result.

This happened to me few days ago. My phone is just a month old, didnt even drop it or something. I was performing for an event and decided to record as a souvenir. My friend was recording it and she said it kept freezing after 2-3 mins of recording. Sad that I wasnt able to film my whole performance. There was an update last night but it didnt include the bug that concerns freezing while video recording. I thought it was storage problem but I still enough space in my storage. I hope apple looks into this. Its reallyy baad for people like me who likes taking documenting stuff.

Same problem with new iPhone XR, iOS 12.1.4.

I rely on video taking which was a consideration when I bought the XR.

Great when it works but it is unreliable, seemingly when I need it most!

Freezes, then stops; it doesn't make a difference when. Sometimes after two minutes, sometimes after 15+.

Apple, you need to get on this right away and fix it. It's why I bought your phone.

I thought I was the only one...even thought i was imagining things which is why it took me over three months to seek help. I video alot and have the same problem of random freezing on my brand new XR . I tried factory reset and even in that mode - without backing the phone up again through itunes - the videos randomly freeze. I tried visiting the apple store and working on line with apple representatives...no one seems to have a solution and no one admits this is an ongoing problem. So frustrating! I did not upgrade to a very expensive phone so that I would have failed videos and missed opportunities! This is NOT acceptable. I would like to return my phone as this phone is clearly defective but that request was laughed at. What else can we do when we purchase a defective product???

Got exactly the same issue with a brand-new XR. German Apple support advised me to do a factory reset and to restore iPhone from iCloud backup. Didn't solute the problem. Now I gave it to an authorized dealer to fix it. Just received a mail the problem has bees solved :- but it hasn't been restored with my data yet. Will pick it up this friday and I am sure to keep the issue after having restored it from iCloud.... If so I will contact the 2nd support level of Apple to replace the device by a new one.

I have faced the same issue with my XR purchased in October 2018. During Video recording the frame freezes audio continues . After all the software updates and checks ,

my device has been replaced but yet the new device has the same issue . It’s unresolved and surprisingly the call center acts as if I am the only one in the world facing this issue . They want me to give the phone again for tests . Came across this thread and seems like I m not the only one
