Printer 'filter failed' in Mojave

ps - in the print queue if you see a tiny thumbnail of your image next to the file name then you are good. If you see a pdf icon it will probably fail at some point before finishing.

something as basic as communicating with printers Apple can't get right. This is why I try never to upgrade anything until I have to. Microsoft word doesn't work right either after installing Mojave. Been with a Mac since I replaced "Lisa" with the first mac. Is it really time to switch to the dreaded other platform?

I have the same problem with my HP laserjet CP1025 color, it is getting time too look around to other computers, Apple is losing and getting much to expensive and the quality is getting less. Using for over 13 years Apple products but really thinking to stop with the brand.

My Iphone 7plus, 2 years old and getting problems with the touch screen, my Iphone X getting problems with the screen after 3 months. It is too crazy for words, Apple really disappointing me.

Having very similar issues, however it's not related to just one printer. Things will be fine for several days, then suddenly none of my printers show up. This includes HP, DYMO, RICOH, Toshiba. I've reset the printing system countless times, added printers back and then for no reason I can determine, they go away again. Apple needs to divert some internal talent away from making things pretty, and back to functional.

I am having this issue on my Epson Sure Color P9000 only after upgrading to Mojave. I am printing large images and at some point before it's finished the print stops and I see the filter failed error in the printer job app. In my case it is only with large prints, as if it has to do with the size of the file. I have gone through rigorous uninstall and reinstall steps with no luck. Epson says it's Apple and they get the call regularly.

This is truly frustrating. Since doing the update to OS X 10.14.3, I cannot print to any of my printers either!! Like others, I have rest the priniting system and downloaded new drivers and firmwarre from the OEM of the printers (HP & RICOH), but still cannot print.

On my business RICOH I get the "filter failed" error and on the HP LaserJets, they just get Paused, but I cannot unpause them and get a print.

Come on Apple, get this fixed!

I have done that several times without any change. I even took the "Printers" folder from my MacPro running 10.14.3 and can still print, but no change. What other files affect printing? I am thinking that I may have to do a full new reinstall, vice from a backup, which will be a pain.

Problem still there for me: reset the printers and reinstall the printer (Sharp) with latest drive didn't help. Apple support solution : reinstall completely Mojave... There should be some software fix...

I am having same problems with Epson Surecolor SC P800 and Mojave. Printing direct from Photoshop. Tried umpteen times reinstalling epson driver 10.16 to no avail. Will print files up to 800mb but not above. I am at wits end with it all. Printer just says printing complete without doing anything or just rolls out paper/canvas and says complete. Never had this problem with PS cc18 or IOS Sierra. There must be a solution out there somewhere.

Lost all printing functionality to my HP CP1025nw also after moving to Mojave. Tried many different fixes but no long. Come on Apple - provide a fix!

I'm having the exact same problem except it's limited to only MS office. Adobe suite will print fine...

I have a Lexmark. This problem persists across all printer brands. It's an Apple problem. I just dropped 1,500 on a new laptop. Apple needs to use its billions on hand to fix this.

I did setup the printer using IP, but the filter failed still occurred.

Same issue on my printer (CP1025 color), only started occurring with Mojave. Printer works fine from other OSes. Some pdfs print, most fail with ('filter failed').

That's interesting. Still broken for me with Preview on 10.14.5. Might need to try Acrobat, though not really wanting to install Adobe products if I can avoid it.
