Apple watch music stuck on pending

My watch memory is full because it is defaulted to syncing a ton of music. I don't care if I have music on my phone. I turned the auto sync off but it has been stuck on pending for a week. I've unpaired and repaired, turned things off and on and restarted the app. Nothing helps. I get memory full warnings pretty much every minute. Any ideas?

From the Watch, Settings/ General/ Reset/ Erase All Content and Settings.

Then re-pair with your phone but do not install the Watch backup, that should avoid this problem.
