MediaAccess TG789vac and Apple TimeCapsule

I have a MediaAccess TG789vac modem connected to the ADSL 200Mbs (VSDL2) and wen I connect to 5Ghz wifi of the modem the connections adsl speed reaches 198Mbps.

I connected the modem via ethernet cable to Apple TimeCapsule which is located on the other side of the house where the wifi modem can not reach, but in this case I can not navigate to the internet over 100Mbps, with the wifi 5Ghz of TimeCapsule, so the limitation is strangely the ethernet cable, how is it possible?

Help me, please, thanks.

Several things are possible that will limit speeds over the Ethernet connection.

1) You are using an older CAT5 Ethernet cable, which will not support more than 100 Mbps speeds over distance

2) You are using a CAT5e or CAT6 Ethernet cable, but a connector is broken, or the cable is mis-wired at one or both ends of the cable. A mis-wired cable will still usually allow a connection, but speeds will be limited to no more than 100 Mbps.

Temporarily, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Time Capsule and connect the remote end of the cable directly to a Mac or PC and run a speed test on the device. Make sure that you have the WiFi turned off on your computer so the connection will be over Ethernet.

What speeds do you see when you run this Internet speed test?

Just to add to Bob's comment..

You have jumped to ethernet as the culprit..

Probably correctly if you find the speed is almost exactly 100Mbps.

However it will depend on the model of the Time Capsule.

AC wireless is only the latest version.. and to get high speed you need to be up close.. do check wireless link speed.

Hold down the option key when you click the wireless fan (or use wireless diagnostics) and check your link.

Particularly make sure you are in fact connected to 5ghz.. and not using 2.4ghz which is never going to get throughput above 100Mbps.

Up close on a recent Mac with AC wireless card you should link at 1300Mbps..

Actual throughput will be less than 1/2 that speed.. but well in excess of your 200Mbps speed limit to outside world.

Your model laptop will not have an ethernet port worse luck.. so you will either need to buy a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter or use some other computer with real ethernet port.

As soon as you plug the cable in .. it should connect at gigabit speed which you can check via network utility (well hidden now so search for it in finder) or use command

ifconfig en0 | grep media

(it could be en1 if that doesn't give you sense).
