Using IOS 12.1 on iPhone XS - and downloaded two apps this week and neither icons are visible. Search finds the apps but no icons and I can run the programs. I've looked in all folders. Nothing. Short of resetting home screen any ideas on how to locate or what could be causing this. I am not using any restrictions.
If you have 16 screens, and they are all full, you are at the maximum amount of screens you can have and new apps have no other place to go.
Combining some apps into folders may make enough space to allow the extra apps to appear.

Swipe left from Home Screen #1 gets you Home Screen #2.
Most likely on your right-most home screen. Scroll to the left.
Combine some of the apps into folders, this will give you the required screen space to show the new apps.
Sure, I got all that. I have a total of 16 screens and I certainly can get
to all of them swiping from right to left until I get to the end.

Swipe from the right edge of the screen to the left edge of the screen to move to other Home Screens.
Alternatively, at the bottom of the screen you should see a line of circles indicating the number of home screens you have. Tap on them to move to the next home screen without swiping.
