Professionally "clean" computer due to hacking?

My financial advisor suggested I have my computer professionally cleaned by someone like Best Buy Geek service after someone tried to hack my account. Apparently they got my username and password to my financial account but were foiled when they tried to link a bank account to it and I was notified. No one has physical access to my computer. Do I take this advisor's advice? If so, how do I go about it for my Mac?

If no one has had physical access to your computer and you haven't let someone remotely access your computer, there is probably no need to have it professionally cleaned. Have you downloaded any new programs recently?

What OS version are you using? If 10.10 or later, try running this program in your normal user account, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. You can run the report for free at least once, but if you run it several times, at some point it will ask you to pay a license fee.
