Since I installed OS 12.1 on my iPhone 8, my text replacement has stopped working. I can see my shortcuts in settings but they will not work when I key the shortcut in messages or mail. I tried removing them completely and added new ones....nothing. I love my text replacements so if anyone has a solution, I would be grateful.
Thanks William. I know HOW to use text replacement, and how to add and delete them....the issue is when I key the shortcut, it doesn't replace with the text I have set for it. It worked fine before updating to 12.1, and now it doesn't
If your text replacement total has more than 128 characters you have to delete some. Not sure why this occurred but that is how it is now In iOS 12.1
I saw posting for work around to it, I have not tried it but apparently works for others.
Are these text replacements long phrases? It seems that Apple has restricted the size of text replacements to 128 characters, so long replacements will not work. This seems to have affected users that have short paragraphs or statements in the text replacement area.
Are you sure replacement is still enabled? Have you tried toggling it off then back on again?
I have tried that. I giggled all options off, then turned my phone off, turned it back on, toggled them back to on, and still not working.
That should read, toggled not giggled. Silly auto correct...at least that is working
Thank you. That is it! I use complete paragraphs. Looks like I have to break them up into smaller sentences :).
