Upgrade OS on MBP6,2 to 10.31?

I would like to upgrade the OS on my MBP 6,2, 15" mid-2010, from 10.9.5 (Mavericks) to 10.13 (High Sierra). App store won't let me update, and the laptop is not compatible with 10.14 Mojave... High Sierra is the highest it can go (as far as I can tell). I could not find the OS to download at apple, only updates of High Sierra available.

Am I stuck forever with Mavericks on this laptop?

High Sierra is the upgrade for your system.

Your MacBook Pro lacks Metal-capable graphics, which precludes an upgrade to Mojave.

On the App Store High Sierra page, it shows a greyed-out 'Installed' button in place of a Get button. I looked at my purchases and have not downloaded high sierra that is shows. I'm logged on as admin (actually only acct on machine). Not sure what to do. I tried the link 'MrHoffman' sent also, same issue. I have >100GB of free space, and 4GB ram.

Not sure what action to take, seems like an App Store hangup, either with something I did before or ?

Just remember, I got into this earlier today when the App Store update prompted me to update to Mojave, which I clicked yes too, but then it said it couldn't. Maybe that attempt is now precluding me from downloading High Sierra?

Thanks for you help.
