I am used to pro tools where I can see the volume wave and edit within the track. Is there a way to do this in Logic Pro x?

I usually select a part of the region with the scissors tool, then use the gain in the inspector to reduce/increase the gain on just that section.
If I understand you, hold the option key and double click the wave form.
Logic is different from Pro Tools. You can alter region gain in the inspector.
Neither of these suggestions is working. I am unable to change volume for a selected part of a region. If I hold option and click in a track it 'divides' it but I never have any kind of option to manipulate the volume within that selected area.
You can do as Data Stream suggests, or just double click and edit in the Track Editor, or just zoom in and then you can edit in the tracks area.
