Default App for RSS "feed:"

Whenever I try to open an RSS feed such as "feed:https://itmattershowyoustand.com/comments/feed/", MacOS attempts to open the feed with the NEWS app which does nothing with the passed link.

is there somewhere that one can set a different app to open it?

I have looked and can't find any way to change it.

In the past Safari used to support reading RSS feeds and would have been the 'default' choice. You will need to install an app that supports RSS feeds.
