Etrecheck reports multiple app crashes?

Having followed these forums a bit, I've deliberately avoided any kind of AV or so-called "cleaning" software. The only thing I have is ClamXav which I believe is a standalone app. It was often recommended here a few years ago but seems to have fallen from favour, and it isn't one of my crashed apps in any case.

The Time Machine anomaly I know about and is because I use TimeMachineEditor to schedule backups once a day while I'm at work.

I've not tried Malwarebytes yet, but I don't think I use any plugins or anything like that so I suspect there won't be anything for it to find. But I'll download it and see what it says.

Other than that, thanks in advance for any light you can shed.

Many thanks guys. Looking at it again, I can see you're quite right - I didn't know the distinctions between hangs, crashes and memory shortages. So yes, I can see the Monity app seems to be a prime culprit for actual crashing. Not sure why. As mentioned it came from the App Store and its webpage shows the default Sierra desktop pic which suggests Sierra compatibility. I'll look again and see if there's another update I've missed.

On the subject of memory shortages though, with 16gb of RAM I'm surprised to see that it's an issue. I'm old enough to have grown up with Macs running 4mb of RAM, so I'm very much a one-app-at-a-time kinda guy. The only ones that tend to get left open are Mail and sometimes Safari. However I do leave Activity Monitor running so I can see the little bar graph working in the dock in order to see how hard the processors are working. I've always been really amazed by it because it's very rare that any processor bars show the machine to be working hard. Things like exporting busy iMovie files tends to wake them up, but almost everything else I do is barely enough to get them out of bed.

But there does seem to be something in it. I ran Etrecheck on my daughter's 2013 iMac - a 2.7ghz i5 with the same 16gb of RAM and the better fusion drive (with 124gb ssd compared to my later fusion with only 24gb ssd) and the report actually stated memory shortages. This is despite the fact that she reboots it daily. The only thing I can think of is she uses iMovie a lot and tends to use Google Chrome which apparently is a known resource hog. But I'm still surprised to see that for either of us, 16gb isn't enough. 😕

Paradoxically, one of the things I use Monity for is having a quick glance at things like temperature sensor readings, fan speed and memory pressure in the notifications window, and most of the time about half my memory is flagged as free. Which again makes out of memory issues a bit odd.

Anyway, I guess the machine knows what it's doing because as we've seen, Etrecheck's performance rating says "Excellent", so maybe I should leave the machine to do its thing and not think about it so much.
